Quake DM3 Archival Print
100% of profits go toward the creation of the Romero Game Design Museum in Galway.
Game: Quake 1, 1996
Map Name: Q1DM3
John Romero created Quake 1’s DM3, The Abandoned Base, deathmatch map. It was the first deathmatch-only map made for Quake, completed January 17, 1996. This is the sketch John created before working on the map. If you were a clan or team deathmatch player back then, you know this map well. It’s a classic.
According to the Quake Wiki: “…this level is considered by the majority of the Multiplayer community to be the best map for Team Deathmatches and Clan Wars.”
The “START” and “STOP” dates signify the date the map creation began and the date the map was finished. The map was created in John’s QuakeEd level editor on the NeXTSTEP development system that was used to make Quake (and DOOM).
